"As test time approaches, take the time to prepare"

Here’s an old joke:"How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” Answer: "Practice, practice, practice."

This is probably the best advice you’ll ever hear whether you are aiming to be your best as a musician, an athlete, or to do well on your standardized tests. If you are planning to take your SAT’s or ACTS’s this year, take comfort in numbers. More than two million students will take the test this year! The best way to prepare for this test is to get the “lay of the land’ first. Knowledge is power, and it’s a lot less daunting if you know what to expect.

Here are the basics...
SAT: 2025

The test is divided into two main sections: a 64-minute reading and writing exam with roughly 50 questions and a second 80-minute math section with roughly 40 questions. You can use a calculator ( a digital calculator is included in the testing software) on all parts of the math section. A change to the test is the new adaptive

testing feature. The test individualizes itself as students ;move through the different modes.

Adaptive scoring:

Students who do well in Module 1 will be given more difficult questions in Module 2, and these questions will be given more weight than easier questions. The ultimate score is out of 1600 points.

ACT: 2025

The test is divided into three parts: 35-minute English section with 50 questions, a 40-minute  reading section with 36 questions, and a 50 -minute math section with 45 questions. A science section is optional. Scores are reported from 1-36.

*Note: Beginning in April, 2025 the ACT will be offered in digital format only.

Remember that if you take the time to understand the process and prepare yourself you will have a much better chance of being more comfortable on test day and your results will show all your hard work and preparation. You are in this to do your personal best. If you’ve prepared, and after you have given it your all, you will feel comfortable and satisfied with your results.
